Which one is your Phobias?

Phobias

What Is a Phobia?

The definition of phobia according to the dictionary is: an irrational fear. The word phobia comes from the Greek phobos which means psychic suffering. This intense fear from the phobic person emphasizes the lack of a perceived danger.
There are several types of phobias such as: school phobia, phobia of the elevator, agoraphobia, claustrophobia, social phobia, specific phobia, generalized phobia, and many others. We can find more than forty phobias.
Deep source of the problem of phobia is the meaning given to this irrational fear that could be equivalent to the fever because the phobic person could manifest different symptoms (hot flushes, sweating, tremors, panic, anxiety, etc.).
The origin causes are not important, that’s why, the maintenance of this disorder that is required from capturing the feeling of the subject is related to the phobic person’s disability, how he feels at the sight of the phobic object, what he does, and certain misconceptions associated with emotions.
For example, an elevator’s phobia is related to confinement and punishment. A social phobia is the fear of exposure and / or public speaking.

Let’s talk about Celebrities & Phobias

Enjoying a lazy day watching television is one of the luxuries people looking forward after a long day or week at work.
The amusement of just sitting and watching your favorite celebrity in character performing in an action, romantic, or comedic movie never gets old.
However, while watching a scene in a movie such as "Kill Bill: Vol. 2" where the actress Uma Thurman is buried alive in a coffin it would be difficult to assume that this particular actress has a fear of being in a limited space.
Performing that scene did not require any acting from Uma Thurman since she is claustrophobic, her screams in that scene were real. It would be hard to believe so since celebrities have to make their movies seem real but this shows how having a certain phobia can affect your daily life.
Other celebrities who have phobias and had to encounter them during their shows are Orlando Bloom and Kristen Stewart. Orlando Bloom suffers from a phobia called "Swinophobia", a fear of pigs, which has affected his work like it has with Uma Thurman. While on set of the movie "Kingdom of Heaven" a pig got loose which left Orlando Bloom running like crazy. Kristen Stewart on the other hand has a fear of horses, during her performance in "Snow White and the Huntsman" she had to put her fear aside to be able to act in the movie which is really difficult for people who suffer from a certain kind of phobia.
Producers have to sometimes create a setting for actors to be able to act without having their phobia affect their work. For example, during the TV show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", the producers had to create an imitation of a cemetery since the star of the show Sarah Michelle Gellar has a fear of graveyards and did not accept to film the show in a real cemetery.
Another phobia that affects a majority of people is the fear of spiders, ghosts, and clowns and who else suffers from these fears is no other than Johnny Depp. Being afraid of clowns because of the excessive makeup that covers their face he still had to face his fear while acting as Edward Scissorhands and Willy Wonka.
Though movies are an entertainment for people, what is perceived as acting in character may in fact be filled with reality and though all these phobias are present it still keeps the essence of appreciating a worthy movie prosperous.
